About the company
Welcome to the website of Stormwater Systems.
We are a Sydney-based engineering company that designs, installs and maintains innovative, cost-effective water-pollution-control devices both within Australia and around the world. As a commercial diver working in underwater construction and engineering in the early 1990s, I saw first-hand the impact of uncontrolled stormwater discharge into marine and freshwater ecosystems. While stormwater quality-improvement devices were available, they were very expensive both to buy and maintain. This prompted me to design and supply effective yet affordable gross pollutant traps that prevent pollution of waterways.
Today, Stormwater Systems provides a comprehensive range of services to councils and other bodies responsible for managing recreational, coastal and catchment water environments. This includes the patented Pratten Trap 2000 – a customisable and economic pipe outlet trap that captures gross pollutants. It has been installed in hundreds of locations across Australia and worldwide.
We clean and maintain most types and brands of stormwater pollution traps (gross pollutant traps), at-source litter baskets, in-pipe, end-of-pipe, booms and other devices, as well as cleaning open waterways such as harbours and lakes, observing the highest levels of workplace safety and environmental care. With more than 11 years of managing stormwater pollution, Stormwater Systems has experience in a wide variety of situations, using a wide range of control devices. We serve more than 280 clients nationally, comprised of councils, government departments, property developers and private operators. As a result, more than 80,000 tonnes of pollutants have been prevented from entering our waterways.
Whether you are a property developer, consulting engineer, council, government policy-maker or an individual looking for a way to contribute to a better living environment, this website is designed for you. Please email me if you have any questions, problems or feedback.
